Are There Any Extra Costs?

November 13, 2009 by Russell

The Power Blog Service is a premium service and as such we provide you with best in class information and add on services when you need them.

Once you’ve paid a setup fee for the package of your choice, apart from your monthly subscription charge from us, the only extra costs to consider will be as follows:

Email Marketing

We recommend you use Aweber as your email marketing tool for collecting email addresses of prospective customers. AWeber provides very reliably email delivery for you autoresponder or newsletter campaigns. Typically charge is $19 per month.

Image Hosting

To provide continuously high performance especially when your site has many visitors we recommend that all images are hosted on Amazon S3. We have extensive tutorials to show you how to do this. This typically costs $2-$5 per month depending on the amount of traffic you have.

Video Hosting

For video you have a number of choices. The zero cost option is YouTube.com however quality is variable and your visitors are shown other links after playing the video which may encourage them to click away from your site.

If you want more control and quality and your visitors are happy to download the videos then Amazon S3 is a good solution.

If you want higher quality video and streaming that we recommended Simple CDN. We host our tutorials at Simple CDN.

Just a note on streaming. Streaming means that the video starts playing before the whole video has downloaded. Whenever you create a video you should think about the viewer experience and decide if it something that are willing to wait for, will they download it and watch it later or will they only want to watch it online?

One-on-one Technical Support

You can buy one on one Technical Support for answers to questions regarding your site: questions regarding our newsletters, our tutorials and our service are not chargeable.

Submit a support ticket on the Power Blog Service Support page and we will let you know if the support ticket is chargeable and how many credits you require: normally a single credit will suffice.
